Do I Need A Car On Fort Myers Beach?

One of the most common questions that first-time guests ask us is “Do I need a car to explore Fort Myers Beach?” Our answer: it depends. Due to our location, many local attractions including our famed beach and pier, as well as the San Carlos entertainment and nightlife district, are just steps away and do not require a car to experience. This area is a quick 5 minute walk away from our doors—no need to wait in traffic or pay for parking—just get out there and enjoy all that Fort Myers Beach has to offer.

If you do not plan on using a vehicle during your time on Fort Myers Beach, you will need to hire a private taxi company, ride-sharing service, or use public transportation to reach our property that is located roughly 20 miles away.

In addition to walking to local destinations and attractions, you can reach other areas of the island by catching a ride on the Fort Myers Beach Trolley. The trolley is an easy, fun, and inexpensive way to get around. An adult fare is just $ .75 and a discount fare is $.35 (available with Medicare card, or as Disabled Citizen, Senior Citizen (65 or older) or Student with a valid LeeTran ID). Pre-school children (under 42 inches) ride free. All-day passes are available as well. It is just $2.00 for one all day pass or $4.00 for a 3-day pass. Trolley passes are sold on board.

Plan your adventure across the beach as the Trolley stops at 5 locations across Estero Island– Summerlin Square, Bowditch Park, Times Square, First St & Old San Carlos, Santini Plaza, Lovers Key State Park. The Times Square stop is located less than a 5 minute walk from where our resort sits. We recommend that you reach the stop 5 minutes before the scheduled time. Also, drivers cannot make change so please bring the exact fare with you.

If you plan to travel extensively across Southwest Florida, you may need a vehicle. Free self-parking is available for one (1) vehicle per room. Additional paid parking is available adjacent to the hotel.

Regardless if you decide to travel with or without a vehicle, we wish you happy trails and safe travels!
